Conditions for a Comeback
Questioned regarding which situations would have to unfold to draw him back to management, he revealed he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; I'm glad to skip media briefings four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats a week.
“No nostalgia for the changing area per se, but sitting in a restaurant with the team talking freely, I appreciate that. With many victories thus frequently great spirits around the place. I can still hear the captain's chuckle in my ear for example.”
Praise for His Successor
Klopp was full of praise for his successor, praising him due to the changes that took the title in the previous season. The team has suffered four in a row across various tournaments following significant transfers, yet he dismissed the notion of it representing the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. Ekitike, superb talent. It’s a really good well-judged squad. No need for concern regarding the Reds, things will improve.”
Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward
He shared movingly on the loss of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, and its impact at the club. The Portugal international lost his life in a car crash alongside his brother recently.
“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding the player himself, it's his character. I can’t imagine the team environment missing him. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. A profound tragedy for his teammates as well. No one within the club might employ it as an excuse though it's a fact. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Dealing with that emotionally is not easy. Unbearable.”
