Starting on October 31 at 12 a.m. Pacific Time, the second episode of It: Welcome to Derry will premiere on the streaming service, prior to its linear broadcast. The remaining installments of the eight-episode season will be released on Sunday nights on both HBO and its streaming arm, leading up to the final episode on the 14th of December.

Taking place within the Derry mythology, Welcome to Derry borrows elements from the original story while enlarging the setting established by director Andy Muschietti in the two It films. It Chapter One centered on kids and teens facing terrifying threats, thus it's suitable that the prequel continues that tradition. However, the debut of HBO’s Welcome to Derry proves it set out to increase the tension, providing even more intense scares than Muschietti’s films and establishing a dark atmosphere for what's to come.
