In excess of 36,000 individuals have fled Sudan's Kordofan territory eastern sector of Darfur beginning Saturday, as stated by the UN's migration organization.

The key central region connecting the country's Darfur provinces and the capital region has over recent weeks become the latest battleground in the extended civil war between the Sudanese armed forces and the paramilitary group.

Massive Displacement Figures

An estimated 36,825 people escaped five areas in North Kordofan state between 26 October and 31 October, according to the International Organization for Migration.

The individuals, mainly traveling by foot, headed to Tawila, a town west of El Fasher that is currently housing more than 652,000 displaced people.

Heightened Military Presence

Local inhabitants of North Kordofan on Monday reported a heavy surge in both RSF and army concentration across communities throughout the state.

Both armed factions are vying for control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan provincial capital and a important strategic and command base that connects Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have converged on the Bara front here," said an RSF member in a recently distributed video statement.

Local Residents Describe Security Concerns

A resident of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, reported that the amount of RSF vehicles had grown significantly since the group's capture of El Fasher.

"We discontinued traveling to our farms, concerned about fighting," the resident stated.

Another resident, who sought confidentiality for protection purposes, also confirmed that "there has been a big increase in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the previous fortnight.

World Alarms and Requests

A senior UN official expressed concerns last week about "widespread abuses" and "race-driven revenge attacks" by RSF in Bara.

The representative cautioned about patterns echoing those in Darfur, where RSF militants have been alleged to commit mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against specific ethnic communities.

The spiritual head on Sunday called for an prompt truce and the creation of aid passageways in Sudan, stating that attacks on civilians and obstacles to humanitarian aid "are causing unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's diplomatic representative to Egypt on Sunday accused RSF of committing war crimes in El Fasher and declared that the Sudanese government would not engage with the militia organization.

The representative further urged the world nations to classify the group as a terrorist entity.
