Mohamed Salah Offers Apology to Liverpool Dressing Room, Discloses Curtis Jones
Jones has disclosed that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the team following the fallout from his recent interview.
The Incident
Salah was left out from a European match following making accusations and stating his connection to the head coach had deteriorated.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I'm sorry.’”
Arne Slot has chosen not to disclose on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction remained positive. “He was the exact same Mo, he was smiling and it was business as usual,” the midfielder explained.
The midfielder also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is a positive trait. “I understand there are specific approaches you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Positive Results
Their results have remained strong in the games following the initial controversy. Jones believes the forward's comments were never meant to cause disruption.
“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a good place,” he finished. “It's behind us and we’re gelling well as a team, playing well and on a positive run.”
