Ex- Physician Faces Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five charges comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
Police have asked anyone with concerns to get in touch with the relevant police force.
