Ex- BBC Advisers Face Parliamentary Inquiry In the Wake of Allegations of Bias in Unauthorized Document
We begin with queries from Tory Member of Parliament the committee chair, who chairs the group.
She initiates by offering background to the unauthorized memo written by Michael Prescott and printed in a daily publication.
"It is not my wish for the British Broadcasting Corporation slanting in any particular direction, I just want it straight, impartial and fair," he says.
When asked if he considers the British Broadcasting Corporation is structurally prejudiced, he responds: "Absolutely not. To be clear, numerous aspects the British Broadcasting Corporation produces is world class - encompassing informative and non-factual shows."
However, he continues: "There exists substantial tasks that requires attention at the BBC."
Another former external British Broadcasting Corporation adviser questioned by the panel, Caroline Daniel, remarks she views the British Broadcasting Corporation with great importance and that it has a "continuous process and active debate" across dynamic and complex subjects.
"Whether the BBC was ready to engage in a genuine discussion and argument and take action?" she reflects. "In my view, indeed, they were."
