England's Coach Tim Southee Unsure on Ashes Participation
The bowler's most recent Test match for New Zealand was against England in December 2024.
England's bowling consultant Tim Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be at the upcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The ex- Kiwi seamer is expected to be present for the opening match due to his involvement in the ILT20 tournament, which starts on 2 December in the UAE.
The 36-year-old, aged 36, assumed a role as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.
Commenting as the English team for the first of three T20 matches against New Zealand was announced, he stated of his participation: "We are still evaluating the situation at the moment.
"We will determine what happens over the next little while."
England pace icon Broad had declared the Australia team as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the contest, which begins on 21 November.
"In my view there's ever a poor Aussie side," Southee remarked.
"The team's attention is squarely on what we're trying to do. In my opinion the caliber of [the English] side that's heading out to the host country is brilliant.
"It should be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not just [are|do] fans from both nations looking forward to it, I think the entire cricketing community is."
But, prior to England head to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they take on the Kiwis in Christchurch on Saturday.
