Everyday tennis enthusiasts are being offered the possibility to earn a seven-figure prize when they face tennis' top professionals - featuring world number one the Spanish champion - in a one-point battle before the Australian Grand Slam

Tournament officials of the year's first Grand Slam have revealed the Seven-Figure Quick-Fire Competition, which will pit everyday competitors against elite athletes in a knockout tournament at the Australian Open venue

This Innovative Competition Operates

Players will play 'the decision-making game' to determine who gets to serve or return, and whoever wins the point will progress to the subsequent phase

The victor of the event will take home approximately half a million pounds

Contextually, players who reached the semi-finals of the men's or women's singles in the 2025 Australian Open won substantial prize money

The New York major hosted a restructured, standalone combined gender tournament in late summer which prompted top singles players to compete, with the victors receiving $1m

The year's first major held its first-ever One Point Slam this year, but the cash prize was A$60,000 and it had limited exposure

One top competitor was the sole elite competitor participating, and his run came to an end when he sent the single service opportunity granted into the net in his last eight match

Event Details

Organizers have not said exactly how the event will work, but it is anticipated to mirror a comparable structure to the previous version

The elite players will be granted to serve once and the non-professionals twice - as is the norm in standard play

While it is not certain how the bracket will work, there will be five knockout rounds and the venue will be the Rod Laver Arena rather than the alternative court

The last matches will take place in a nighttime schedule instead of midday timing

Competitor Details

Domestic competitors - or international players who have signed up with the governing body - can compete in 'One Point Slam' competitions at their local tennis clubs

The winners of the grassroots tournaments will then go into a draw, with a single non-professional from every region and area selected to participate in the 'grand finale' in a night session on the specified date

There will also be a qualifying draw in the final month which amateurs, lower ranked pros, celebrities and sport stars can participate in

It begins on the starting date and the two winners will qualify for the midweek 'grand finale' with the additional everyday players and 10 professionals

"No matter your experience, the final champion will claim the award. Applications will begin shortly at venues throughout the nation"

Event organizers said there were "additional stars to be revealed shortly", while the official website mentioned "famous personalities" would be participating
