Both Deceased Students Revealed in Brown University Shooting as Police Persist in Search for Killer.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in Saturday’s tragic incident on the university campus had tributes paid to them on Monday – as a manhunt for their assailant persisted following the discharge by local law enforcement of the sole person detained in connection in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was remembered as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, per the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s chapter of the campus GOP group, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also shared sympathies online, saying in part: “It's indescribable. Thinking of her kin and peers, especially her parents.”

An International Student

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, from Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the renowned school, family members said.

The victim's identification was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He harbored grand aspirations of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a tribute.

Details of the Attack

An additional nine individuals were injured in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s university in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a police operation at a Hampton Inn about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you need to change course and head another way, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”

Community Anxiety

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “It is expected to provoke renewed concern for our city”.

The gunman opened fire inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on Saturday, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a handgun, a police source reported to the Associated Press.

Police that raided the hotel found two firearms and two loaded 30-round magazines when the suspect was detained, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims

Of the nine hurt, one pupil was discharged from care, stated the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in critical but stable condition, and one was in critical condition, authorities stated on Sunday.

A private school, a private academy in Durham, North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

More Condolences

Tributes were paid to Cook at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “Her presence was a wonderful, steady, pious glow not only in her youth... but at Brown University she was an incredible light in that specific location as well.”

Martin Bertao, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the organization. “Ella was recognized for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she served her chapter and other students,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by the passing of Umurzokov in a statement. “We extend our sincere condolences to his relatives, loved ones, and fellow students and mourn the loss of his bright future.”
