The co-founders behind the famous ice cream brand Ben and Jerry's has stated that parent company the multinational conglomerate stopped the introduction for an innovative Palestine-themed frozen dessert product.

Ben Cohen, that established the business alongside his partner, revealed that he plans to independently develop the controversial flavor as part of an individual collection highlighting causes the company was prevented from speaking out about.

Ongoing Conflict Involving Creators and Corporate Owner

This latest development deepens the ongoing disagreement among the internationally recognized dessert company and Unilever, the UK-based packaged goods corporation which acquired the ice cream brand since 2000.

Both founders have asserted how Unilever along with their ice cream division the Magnum brand improperly prevented their company from "fulfilling its ethical commitments".

The Fruit Sorbet as an Emblem for Support

Mr. Cohen revealed via social media how he's developing an innovative watermelon-based sorbet, asking for public suggestions for naming options plus potential ingredients.

“I'm doing what they couldn't,” Mr. Cohen stated in his kitchen. “I'm making a watermelon-flavored ice cream that calls for lasting ceasefire for Palestinians while demanding addressing the harm that occurred in the region.”

This particular fruit has emerged as an emblem for support for the Palestinian people due to its colors, that match those of the Palestinian flag – red, green, black and white.

Historical Social Engagement and Recent Changes

Several years ago, the ice cream company ceased sales of their merchandise in territories under Israeli control, resulting in Unilever transferring the Israeli operation over to a local licensee, thus allowing continued sales within the occupied West Bank.

The new product line is being developed under Ben's Best, the activist dessert company which originally established several years back to support former political contender Senator Sanders with the product "Bernie's Back".

Leadership Shifts and Upcoming Plans

The founder revealed how he plans to develop other frozen dessert varieties focusing on issues that the company was prevented from addressing publicly due to corporate restrictions.

The announcement follows co-founder Jerry Greenfield stepped down from Ben & Jerry's in September, following many years with the organization, mentioning worries regarding how the company's autonomy was compromised after corporate moves to curb its social activism.

At that time, Mr. Cohen commented how “My partner has strong compassion and the ongoing dispute with Unilever was breaking it."

"My heart leads me to continue to work inside the company to advocate for corporate autonomy ensuring that the company can achieve the social mission, the values that established its foundation and has maintained for decades," he explained to media outlets.
